Advocating for a Loved One in a Facility
Presenter: Amanda Mosier, CDP, CDCM, SSD (And by this time, hopefully ALSO a PAC trainer) –from IU Health’s Alzheimer’s Resource Service
An installment of IU Health’s ongoing Alzheimer’s education series. Supporting a loved one in a facility can be difficult and leave you feeling like many situations are out of your hands. This session will provide you with an understanding of how to best support your loved one by working with facility staff, asking good questions, and advocating for their needs. Has your family been touched by Alzheimers disease and/or dementia? Here is help in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Alzheimers disease and dementia have traditionally been considered taboo topics in everyday conversation. However, as more and more Americans receive these diagnoses, the need for education, support, and resources is growing. IU Health Alzheimers Educator Dayna Thompson will address these needs in a way that helps caregivers feel connected, knowledgeable, and capable of supporting their loved one. Lunch will be provided free by the IU Health Alzheimers Resource Service. The class is free, but registration is required. Register by calling the library at 812-275-4471.
