Celebrate Hoosier Author Kurt Vonnegut! He is considered one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century, known for his works like Slaughterhouse-Five and Cat's Cradle. Celebrating Vonnegut's turning 100 in the month of November, the library will be hosting the presentation Vonnegut at 100: A Century of Stories presented by Chris Lafave of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library on November 1st from 6 pm to 7 pm. This adult educational program is for anyone interested in learning more about this iconic author.

Whether it is your grandma's secret recipe for buttermilk biscuits or the most unusual desert you have ever made, on November 7 from 1 pm to 2 pm bring in your favorite or most memorable recipe to share with the group. Participants will be given an opportunity to not only share the recipe, but the memories that go with it. Memory Cafe is a safe and comfortable environment where anyone can come socialize and share memories and experiences.

Children's program, 4pm: What do whooping cranes need to live in a wetland? Why are wetlands important? Children and their families can find out through a hands-on activity and presentation from crane experts!
Adult and teen program, 6pm: Learn how to identify Sandhill Cranes and Whooping Cranes by sight and sound, where they live, and all about their history. Find out about the Whooping Crane reintroduction program and how you can a part of the effort to protect them.

Join us for a special event with author and licensed hearing aid specialist, Suzanne Picerno, on Thursday, December 1st! Enjoy her picture book, Eddie the Elephant's Magical Ear, followed by a creative activity for children. All ages welcome.
Eddie is an endearing and adventurous elephant whose day is turned upside down when he breaks and loses his ear and discovers he can no longer hear! With the help of an itsy-bitsy spider and a magical hearing aid, Eddie goes on an unexpected journey to get his ear (and hearing) back.
